Sara Markowitz
Co-Founder & CEO Emeritus
Sara founded County Draperies in 1978, driven by her passion for textiles and design. She built the County brand with a commitment to elegance, craftsmanship, and quality, earning a trusted reputation over the years. Now, as she passes on the torch, she’s excited to see the company embrace new innovations, sustainable materials, and fresh design trends that will shape the industry. More than anything, she takes pride in creating a legacy that continues to inspire the next generation to carry forward her vision of beautifully tailored draperies.
Carl Markowitz
Co-Founder & President Emeritus
Carl played a pivotal role in launching County alongside Sara, guiding its evolution into one of the premier drapery manufacturers in the U.S. His strategic foresight was instrumental in the company’s early shift from a custom residential workshop to a custom commercial drapery manufacturer; a move that established the foundation for County’s current business model. His dedication to quality and innovation continues to influence the company’s identity and inspire its commitment to beautifully designed interiors.

Ilana is a dedicated third-generation leader, carrying forward a tradition of excellence, innovation, and expertise. With a deep passion for craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, she plays a vital role in multiple aspects of the business, from sales and operations to marketing and human resources. Her commitment to quality and service ensures that the company not only stands firmly with its core values but also evolves to meet modern demands. With a bachelor's degree in computer science, Ilana blends technical insight with creative leadership to shape the company’s success and vision for the future.
David Markowitz
President, COO
David, a second-generation company leader, grew up immersed in the family business, gaining hands-on experience from an early age. His dedication to mastering the craft led him to learn Spanish, attend trade school, and take textile and machine mechanics classes, ensuring a deep understanding of every aspect of County and the industry. Now serving as President and COO, David leads daily operations with a forward-thinking approach, integrating new technologies while preserving the company’s rich heritage. With a strong background in the hospitality industry, he is highly skilled in negotiation, budgeting, business planning, and sales. A seasoned professional, David holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Yeshiva University, along with accreditations from various leadership and business workshops.
