County Draperies manufactures a wide collection of custom shade products including Sunbursts, and Roman, Cloud, Austrian and Balloon Shades.
Flat Roman Shade
This simple yet elegant, flat style, features rear-facing stay pockets that add detail to the front of the shade. The stays add structure, giving this uncomplicated style a tailored yet versatile look.
Most fabrics can be used to create this treatment.
Lining is optional.
Pleated Roman
Pleating (or hobbling) the face fabric onto the lining fabric at regular intervals creates overlapping folds that cascade from top to bottom.
Heavy fabrics tend to project forward, while lighter weight material has a softer, wavier appearance. Most prints also work with this treatment but note that prints with large patterns will be interrupted at each pleat.
Cloud Shade
This style can be made with inverted pleats, shirred, tailored or smocked top. All of these style shades require twice the fullness across the width of the shade. A 3/8" covered metal rod is in the bottom of the shade hem to provide stability. Fabric wrapped returns. Swoops are spaced equidistant across the face width. The shade when fully extended vertically has a permanent fixed pouf at the bottom.
Lightweight fabrics are recommended.
London Balloon Shade
This style offers a half box pleat on each side which creates the side tucks. The center poufs and tails are created by pulling up several inches of fabric at the bottom and each side and permanently fixing it in place. This characteristic is visible from the front if the shade is made of sheer unlined fabric.
Soft, pliable fabrics are recommended. Heavier fabrics may require dressing each time they are raised.
Lining is optional.
Austrian Shade
Among the most fabric-rich styles is the Austrian shade which has a horizontal fullness of 230% and a vertical fullness between 250% and 300%.
This style is particularly elegant when used with a sheer fabric.
Because of the fullness, this style is not recommended for use with heavy fabrics.
Lining is optional.
Swagged Balloon Shade
The top of the shade is finished with shirrin tape or rod pocket and a self-welt option.
The bottom of the shade is pulled up at the back to create the swagged appearance. This characteristic is visible from the front if the shade is made in a sheer unlined fabric.
Since this style has a lot of fullness, it is not recommended for velvets or bulky fabrics. Soft, pliable fabrics drape nicely.
